But what happens to the skilled immigrants?

Based on Canadian Census labour force data, foreign educated immigrants earned $2.4 billion less than native born Canadians with formally comparable skills, because they worked in occupations that were below their skill levels. -Tapping Immigrant Skills, cited at hireimmigrants.ca. Hireimmigrants.ca has many factoids about the situation of skilled immigrants.

Their website is quite revealing as is their TV commercial. But in my opinion they do not get to the heart of the matter.

Recently Ontario has started a provincial nominee programme to attract skilled foreign workers...needless to say that there'll be large numbers of applicants from India. Most other provinces already have this programme that fast tracks permanent residence status to anything between 8 months to two years. In the conventional route this could take up to five years
